"The Very Best Of..
Any lover or student of western swing music probably has a strong reference library of the many Bob Wills recordings that are out there. Those same folks will also tell you that every one of those recordings are important, documenting band personnel and song arrangements that were a part of the evolution of this genre'. For these folks and newer fans, this is a wonderful collection. It showcases several different configurations of the Texas Playboys, and each recording seems to be the best version of the many that are available. It is a little light on waltzes though, which was a large a of what Wills himself musically brought to the table. I realize that unless you are purist you probably would rather hear the hot fiddle and twin guitar take offs associated with the band, and those are well represented here. Money well spent.
