The singer makes the band
I actually adore the singer. Without him, I think they'd be a bit one-dimensional. He's got a great voice, and that wobbly thing he does is what drew me to them in the first place. I love his voice.

Saw this band last week in Amsterdam in a packed & soldout Melkweg, so I guess some of you are wrong about the flopping breakthrough. These guys (18? 20?) really ripped the place apart. But you're right about the singer, it is part attitude, part technique, part effects from the mixing desk. He tries his despearate best to sounfd as desparate as Joy Division or the Smiths. But still they rock.
The first thing you will likely think when first hearing this is... the singer is weird. Give it a few tries and you won't care anymore. This band grew on me so much, I'm so glad I gave it a chance.
Really, what's with the wobbly voice gimmick? It's not just this EP but it's everything on here. It distracts from the great music. If you've not listened to these guys yet, he sounds like he's singeing whilst riding a bicycle on a very bumpy cobblestone road. Possibly in Bombay... Between their EPs Bombay Bicycle Club managed to remind me of The Smiths, Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine. It's definately a great band to show off your superior taste of obscure music. Unless they fire the singer they will never have their have their break through. But then, this guy sings as wobbly as Mariah Carey and look where she ended up.
...are great. The singer's "wobbly" voice put me off initially, but once I got the hang of it: great!
