They Say All Music Guide

Taking a page from the chaotic hardcore of such bands as Training for Utopia and Today Is the Day, Louisville-based Breather Resist’s debut release is eight songs of frantic, quick hardcore with a definite metal edge. Although the band features a member of Black Cross and National Acrobat, the sound is hardly similar and is most definitely heavier than both those acts. The vocals are a dead ringer for Training for Utopia and the overall sound is not too far off, either. The production and musicianship are sufficient; however, it’s true ingenuity that seems lacking. Much of this type of hardcore metal has been done before, although that doesn’t take away from Breather Resist’s ability to totally pummel the listener into the ground with such a ferocious sound. Nonetheless, more creativity and experimentation would be welcome in order for the band to truly define its own sound. – Kurt Morris
