Carole King - Natural Woman

GamblinCat7959

Carole King is, in my opinion, one of the best songwriters this world has ever known. A wonderful singer as well, she puts so much emotion into her music that one cannot help but be touched by it in some way. Listening to her albums puts me through a variety of emotions, and brings back many pleasant memories with each successive song. If you've never had a Carole King album before, try THIS one to start. It has some of her best songs and I think you'll end up being a huge fan of hers before the album is finished playing! :-)

The one you need

Yes, Tapestry is the highlight, and requires only half the credits to buy, but this is the one to get. An utterly charming overview of her skills as a writer and performer. There's a reason why she has sold 20 million records - she's that good, and it's not just Tapestry. Even if you don't know all of these songs, you will soon, because you're going to play this over and over.

New This Week: School of Seven Bells, Trust & More

By J. Edward Keyes, Editor-in-Chief

Man. There are just so many new records today. Also, I think about halfway through this, I developed carpal tunnel syndrome. Trust, TRST: Behind the year's worst album cover is one of the year's best records. Super goth, in all the right ways. Where my Apoptygma Berzerk fans at? Home crying? Cool. See you there. This one is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Barry Walters goes: Trust is danceable even if you're not stuck in a K-hole. Its tempos vary… more »

Six Degrees of The Isley Brothers’ 3 + 3

By Dan Epstein, eMusic Contributor

It used to be easier to pretend that an album was its own perfectly self-contained artifact. The great records certainly feel that way. But albums are more permeable than solid, their motivations, executions and inspirations informed by, and often stolen from, their peers and forbearers. It all sounds awfully formal, but it's not. It's the very nature of music — of art, even. The Six Degrees features examine the relationships between classic records and five… more »

They Say All Music Guide

Carole King had already written an enormous amount of pop classics by the time she began her solo career in earnest in the late ’60s. With her second album, Tapestry, King became one of the most popular and artistically successful singer-songwriters of the early ’70s. King never matched the consistent brilliance of Tapestry, yet managed to record many fine songs during the rest of the decade. A Natural Woman collects all of her finest moments over the course of two discs. Tapestry is included in its entirety, along with the highlights from her other albums, making A Natural Woman the one essential King album — apart from Tapestry itself, of course. – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
