(This album, incidentally, is not called "Cascabulho," but rather "´é Caco do Vidro Puro -" that's why it says that on the cover) Not for Brazoners (Brazilopiles) only: If you like dance music with a folkloric edge, you'll love this album from an extremely talented and well-studied band. This album shows, beautifully, that there is so much more to that vast country than Futebol and Sergio Mendez. Pernambuco, in Brazil's Northeast, is absolutely overflowing with its own unique folkloric and modern culture. Although I vastly prefer their prior album "Fome da dor na cabeça," there's plenty of great percussion, fife playing, rhythm, and catchy tunes on this record. Buy it! (Note: Although Silverio Pessoa left the band to pursue a solo career just before this album, it still features excellent percussionist Jorge Martins!)
