Excellent Minimalism; Disregard First Reviewer
The first reviewer is rude and intemperate to lash out about "marketing" and "charlatans"; being an avant-garde musician is about the least likely swindle I can imagine. This music is probably about as lucrative as street performance art (i.e., people don't create this kind of art to make money). If you don't like it, fine, then go elsewhere and review the music you do know something about. I completely agree that emusic does all kinds of things wrong, but that is not the fault of Charlemagne Palestine. Palestine is a talented, important composer and performer of minimalist composition, and if you've learned how to listen to such pieces (or are curious) then his work is very good. I don't own this album, but I do like what I hear in preview. His best known work, "Strumming Music," is superb. For reference, his work bears comparison to Tony Conrad, and some of John Cage's keyboard compositions.
