Don't overlook this!
Charlie McCoy's harmonica can be heard on backup on county cuts as well as early rock 'n roll with artists too numerous to name. But once you hear his solo work, you will be able to pick him out on lots of recordings. He stands out with his own style of crisp clean notes which bring out a lonesome sound providing a personal signiture just as Johnny Gimble does with the fiddle or Floyd Cramer with the piano, and every bit as important to the development of modern country music as them as well. Finding this album is like finding gold in the backyard. "Shanandoah" makes me tear up.
