Effortless enjoyment

troutbum

The tunes here are pretty basic...but the musicianship is some of the best ever recorded. Simply Great!

Knopfler + Atkins = Perfect

Beautiful music by two extraordinary musicians - one of my favorites! (And happy to see it here!) You don't have to be a fan of country music to enjoy this record and appreciate their incredible talent. Download all of it - you won't regret it!

Great Pickers- wonderful camaraderie

ThatRascalFelix

This is a wonderful collection of songs by two of my favorite guitar players. The thing that makes this stand out is the enjoyment that you can hear in their voices, truly a labor of love. For two great guitarists that really don't have great voices, this album is filled with vocal music. Chet sang early in his career, but wisely abandoned it. Knopfler has a folksy voice that worked well for Dire Straits and his solo stuff but it is his guitar work that makes him a great artist. From the opening "Poor Boy Blues" with it's foot tapping beat, through the humor and banter in "There'll Be Some Changes Made", the soft sounds of "So Soft Your Good-bye", to the wistful "The Next Time I'm in Town", this album never disappoints. An album I play often!

They Say All Music Guide

Working with Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler had a rejuvinating influence on Chet Atkins. Knopfler has Atkins moving toward his country roots, but both guitarists still play with a tasteful, jazzy sensibility — however, Atkins has abandoned the overt jazz fusion pretensions that sank most of his ’80s records. With its direct, understated approach, Neck and Neck is the most focused and arguably the most rewarding record Atkins has released. – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
