Solid 4 stars would give it 4.5.

AltPunk? Nah! DancePunk, maybe. Mostly AltDance and IndiePop. Think Depeche Mode meets the Clash. Best track is "AM/FM" followed by "Even Judas Gave Jesus a Kiss" and "Jamie My Intentions Are Bass". For fans of Depeche Mode, The Clash, Takka Takka, Beck, BT, Torpedo Boys, Scissor Sisters, Of Montreal...

a nice ride

Ardie

I love music with a nice grove, but hate a lot of repetition. This disk reminds me of Duran Duran, and other 80s new wave, but without the cheesy synthesizers. I really like wandering into a band. Good stuff.

Good.

These guys kill it live. The whole stage is full, and everyone in the crowd dances whether they know the songs or not. Good stuff!

Talking Heads, Tom Tom Clubish

Reminds me a lot of 80s-era Talking Heads. Lots of wonderful polyrhythmic jams. I'm not in love with the vocals, but overall I really love the layered, Afrobeat styled instrumentation.

My Intentions Are Bass!!!

theprimatetemple

Chk Chk Chk cut the weird out, 9 minute songs and what is left is this pulsating gem!!! My favorite !!! album so far, and I've loved them all. Strange Weather leaves me wanting more, but that's the mark of a great album. When it's over you hit play to do it all again!!! Unsure? Try "Jaime, My Intentions Are Bass" and "Even Judas Gave Judas A Kiss".

Six Degrees of The Rapture’s In the Grace of Your Love

By Andy Battaglia, eMusic Contributor

It used to be easier to pretend that an album was its own perfectly self-contained artifact. The great records certainly feel that way. But albums are more permeable than solid, their motivations, executions and inspirations informed by, and often stolen from, their peers and forbearers. It all sounds awfully formal, but it's not. It's the very nature of music — of art, even. The Six Degrees features examine the relationships between classic records and five… more »

They Say All Music Guide

By the time of their fourth album Strange Weather, Isn’t It? !!! had been making records for almost a decade. Not too many bands can keep going for that long and continue to make records that have all the energy and quality they began with, but !!! have managed it. While many of the alumni of the dance punk boom of the early 2000s have faded away or changed their sound or just plain lost their way, !!! remain as good as ever and Strange Weather is full of the kind of ferocious and funky dance punk that they’ve always done. Taking barely any pauses for breath, the record is a headlong rush from beginning to end filled with exactly what fans of the group will want to hear. Unlike on their last album 2007’s Myth Takes there are no glam rock beats or ballads here, just floor filling jams mixed together like a stellar DJ set. Kicking off with one of their catchiest songs to date “AM/FM” and following it up with the dubbed up, hypnotic “The Most Certain Sure” is a great way to sequence the record. It drops you right into the !!! aesthetic and lets you know that there has been no drop off at all. Indeed the best tracks here equal the best tracks the group has done; apart from the two songs mentioned already, the slinky, hooky “Jamie, My Intentions Are Bass,” the bubbling “Even Judas Gave Jesus a Kiss” and the hard charging “The Hammer” will all fight for space on !!!’s Greatest Hits. Unlike their most similarly talented contemporary LCD Soundsystem, they don’t have the kind of songs that jump out at you and have you singing along. Their songs work more insidiously, creeping into your brain on the back of the bass lines and Nic Offer’s buried-in-the-mix-but-insistent vocals. It’s a subtle kind of pop music and while it might work best on a dance floor, as a whole the record works well under headphones. Strange Weather may get some static for not being groundbreaking or risk taking but that’s okay. It’s just !!! at their best and that’s good enough. – Tim Sendra
