Brilliant

IHeardItFirst

Seeing Chris Smither live is an intense emotional experience and this album captures the feeling very well. Get it - you won't be disappointed and the parental advisory is not because of anything rude but because Chris's depth of feeling could make sensitive people cry.

A Great Live Recording

EMUSIC-00391344

I downloaded this years ago and it is still in heavy rotation today. It is a great introduction to Chris and his amazing live shows. One can only hope emusic will add to this collection.

Chris is at his best live and this recording is proof. Not only is the music great, he's really very funny.

Heads up re second set

dancegypsy

It's hard to add anything without saying how fantastic I think Chris is and this is a great capture of a live show, but my main reason for posting a note here is to say I don't know why there are two albums for download on this page (unless they see this and change it.) From what I could tell, the samples of tracks 14, 15, and 16 are identical to the tracks available on the second album.

At his best live

mikaellewis

Chris Smithers really shines in a live situation. McCabes captures him at his story telling, foot stomping, fingerpicking best. A must for fans of country blues/singer/songwriter music.

Try it. You'll love it.

Bluesandstuff

I have all Chris Smither's releases, and have seen him live three times, so this is not entirely a neutral review. That having been said, I defy anyone who likes intelligent music in the vein of Kelly Joe Phelps, Keb Mo, Roy Rogers, Eric Bibb - or even Little Feat, Dylan and acoustic blues - not to be engaged by this album. Even his chat between numbers is worth the price of the download!

Good Stuff

CowboyJunkieFan

Somewhere in between John Prine and Greg Brown with a little Tom Waits thrown in. This album is really a lot of fun.
