Christie Front Drive, Stereo
1997 | Label: Caulfield Records / IODA

Christie Front Drive came up touring with acts like Jimmy Eat World and Mineral, and left an indelible mark on the emo landscape despite never experiencing widespread success. Musicianship was tantamount; muscular songs like “November” saw the band’s two guitarists interacting in a unique language that was complex without ever feeling tedious or forced. Admittedly Stereo (which is technically the band’s second self-titled effort) sounds firmly rooted in the ’90s, but the feelings it conveys are timeless.

They Say All Music Guide

Denver’s Christie Front Drive provide the exact sort of rock that Caulfield dedicates itself to — the sound of their self-titled album is somewhere on the poppier end of emo (or the emo-ish end of indie-pop, depending on one’s perspective), and does a fairly decent job of it. – Nitsuh Abebe
