Early, middle and late Feldman
This is a fine and well recorded set with a lot of variety even though the only instruments are violin, viola and piano. The first piece sounds pretty much like a conventional sonata (in an early-twentieth-century sense); then we have some short Webernian pieces; and finally the much longer but even more wispy pieces of the late Feldman. The whole is quite a pleasure, as Fong and Hersey play each in a way that suits its style.
