A Splendid Singer
Some might think that this Irish vocalist is a Norah Jones clone but she's been on the British scene since the late 1980s. Her earlier efforts featured more piano but this intelligent collection utilizes the atmospheric guitar of Phil Robson to set the stage for Tobin's stylish vocals. Her fine interpreatations of material by Dylan, John Martyn and Bessie Smith are smartly done but she's also a very strong songwriter. Don't pass this music by and don't ignore her earlier efforts.
