If Roy Forbes/BIM did honky tonk...
it would sound like this... heard a lot worse; might download it at some point...

This guy has a great voice in my opinion.Very, very impressive!
I had never heard of Christopher Denny till I found this album. The voice is unusual but very very good. I never tire of listening to these songs.
I agree completely with the other positive reviews here. For fans of A.A. Bondy, Deer Tick, Josh Ritter, M. Ward, etc. Give it a couple listens to get used to his voice, but it's very well worth it - I've had this on repeat for a couple weeks now. I don't know why this album didn't get more press or attract more attention, but it's really a lovely, lovely album.
I tried everywhere to get the original, Willy Nelson, after hearing it on a film long long ago. I think Christopher Denny does an excellent job and I'm glad I've found out about him! Brilliant
Once you get over Denny's voice-face mismatch this album really starts to get its hooks into you. Check out "Time" and "Westbound Train" first before you go digging for deeper cuts. Denny's voice is nothing if not unique, and the album has a timeless quality that transcends centuries. ...maybe its the spare production, but the album sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday or a 100 years ago...
