Not for me.

I like Chuck and I like Waylon, but this mix doesn't work for me. Listen to Jamey Johnson do Waylon songs.

Another gem

The best tribute records -- and this is definitely one of them -- tell us something about both artists. In this case, a clear picture of the extent to which both Waylon and Chuck are much deeper and wider than any two words (country rock, alt-country, etc.) can convey. Folk, blues, jazz, pop, gospel -- those are here too. Agreed that Chuck is at his best when he's keeping his eye on his own ball, so to speak (my favorite is Age of Miracles), but no reason not to jump all over this one too.

Thanks for this - Chuck fan, Vancouver, Canada

This was a great discovery. I'm a huge Chuck Prophet fan and had heard this collection through the Evangeline Records site and was blown away by it. Unfortunately the copy I ordered from them never arrived and they would not answer my emails even though I'd paid for it. I'd given up hope for getting a copy so once again I am delighted with the music I have found on emusic.

Chuck and his pals create a special tribute to Waylon that remains respectful and true to the originals. I'm all for genuine tributes plus cover versions, even from a wider approach and this is a joy throughout. Another big thank you to eMusic for making this available.

Not His Best

Recordboy06

I love Waylon and I love Chuck Prophet but I would pass on this one. Not a bad release but I prefer Waylon doing his own and the same with Chuck. If you have a choice download "Soap And Water" a much wiser selection.

Wow! Didn't Think This Would Be Here...

Here's yer chance to get these rare tracks digitally, because only a small ltd amount of CDs were ever made. This project evolved due to Chuck and about 10 experienced musicians being locked inside a cold studio over a January weekend last year. With no way out, and only a battery operated turntable to entertain themselves, they soon decided to redo the lone Waylon Jennings album they had. The results speak for themselves. Whether yer a fan of Chuck, Waylon or alt-country in general, y'all should enjoy this tribute trip.

A studio lark...

rastamon

...that hatched a masterpiece. Chuck and crew do real good on Waylon's tunes. Download "Waymore's Blues" and "High Time..." to get a taste of the rockier tunes. Stephanie shines on "Lets All Help The Cowboys...", too!

New This Week: Sharon Van Etten, Twilight Sad & More

By J. Edward Keyes, Editor-in-Chief

OK! Are you guys ready to get bummed out? Because it's the week before Valentine's Day and, man, do we have some sad records for you. I mean, sad even for indie rock, which has sad basically branded into its DNA. So if you're ready to be heartbroken, let's get going. Sharon Van Etten, Tramp: Basically, the only record you need today. A great leap forward from her previous, folky outings, Tramp finds Van Etten falling… more »
