To celebrate 20 years in business, Nervous Records hired superstar DJ CJ Mackintosh for Nervous House 20, an exclusive mix featuring the garage house label’s greatest moments. With tracks like Loni Clark’s “Rushin’,” Byron Stingily’s “Get Up (Everybody),” Winx’s “Don’t Laugh,” and Nuyorican Soul’s “That Nervous Track,” the set doesn’t miss any of the big numbers, but purists should be warned that these tracks appear in various mixes, some classic and some new mixes in the Nervous spirit. Purists really wouldn’t want a milestone mix anyway, but deep house fans looking to balance nostalgia with a floor-filling good time will be more than pleased with Mackintosh’s prime-time set, which starts out chilled and ends up sweaty. Sentimental liner notes from label founder Mike Weiss will warm the hearts of house music fans along with all veterans of the New York City night life. – David Jeffries
