that could never actually be staged, but you picture it in your head and laugh with delight while it plays. I won't lie. "The Elephant's Baby" is not for everyone. Fader's voice is lush and versatile like a slinky, classy torch-song balladeer. Her songs, however, are boldly arranged odd vignettes in which she shape-shifts to portray compelling characters who sometimes do inexplicable things or make titillating confessions of their human desires and weaknesses. The album is oddly compelling; emphasis on the "oddly" there. I love it, but then I'm a bit crazy too.
