On the advice of friends who share my love of Midnight Oil and Hunters & Collectors this was my entre into Cold Chisel's catalog. I have since added most of their albums to my library. Good as their discography may be from top to bottom, Circus Animals is my go to Cold Chisel record. It is a bit more mature and less "southern rock" sounding than the prior efforts, but it feels a bit more artful and polished (to great effect). The record certainly lives up to the considerable hype. I am hard pressed to think of back-to-back-to-back songs on a rock record as satisfying as Tiapan, Hound Dog and Wild Colonial Boy, each evoking in very different ways the glories of rock and roll while remaining essentially Australian.

Cold Chisel's 4th studio album from 1982. Together with "East" a very close call for "Best OZ Rock Album ever". "When The War Is Over" written by their late drummer Steve Prestwich is one of Chisel's best songs to date. But a very strong album alltogether.
