Cyndi Sings The Blues

Zydeco_Bear

Well, now we know what teenaged chanteuses do when they grow up...they sing the blues. And, boy, does Cyndi sing 'em on this album. The girl has real soul and it shows. If you are a blues fan or a torch singer fan, download this one and enjoy. If you are a Cyndi fan, be prepared for the girl's next stylings.

Sounds like the West Village done crushed here bad

iangrey

and boy she sounds good. Wherein our heroine does the usual midlife routine of finding her roots--which considering Cyndi's hair, has deep meaning--and going South. Except you get weird/cool frissons when a true popsters sings such deep blues with such depp-ass NOLA-stlyle stars and really, this should be a bust, but our wanna-have-fun heroine shines, especially on the slowburns. Whatev. Download "Rollin and Tumblin'" and see we tell no lie. Really, there should be some money back shit happening here, cuz eMusic would be cashing out nothing.

Cyndi sounds wonderful, she does a nice job with the blues. Saw her live last month, teh songs sound even better!

this Blue Angel is back to the Blues

Dvoodoo

Before she just wanted to have fun and money changed everything, Cyndi started out her singing career with a brash rockabilly influenced band called Blue Angel. Well, she's back to the blues and her more mature voice is certainly well equipped to handle this material. Any fan of Marcia Ball or Maria Muldaur could certainly dig this.

Amazing work

DontWannaNicknameDammit

This is a great album. I've played this for people without telling them who it is, and they were shocked and presently surprised. She's a great blues singer. This is amazing. Ignore the other review. There's nothing kittenish here. Listen to the samples and decide for yourself.

Nice Set

aitie

I love Cyndi but she sings these blues in a coy, kittenish manner throughout. Voice not really suited for the blues but I would give this a 7 out of ten. Props for pushing her boundaries.
