Although this essentials album is missing hits like "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," you will still have a lot of fun with the other tracks on this album. A guilty pleasure of mine is "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough." It reminds me so much of the good times of the 80's.
I think her version is so much better than Celine Dion's. Her's has more emotion. Dion's sings it like she's just trying to show her voice off, ignoring what the words mean.
These are the songs I grew up on. Rediscovered them when my daughter was invited to an 80's party. Glad I was able to add them to my collection through E-Music. Favorites of course are "True Colors", "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and the risque (at the time) "She Bop"
Nice package of Cyndi's better known songs. Nice nod to the Bangles on Change of Heart, but what about the HOOTERS on some of her earlier tracks, such as Time After Time, She Bop and Money Changes Everything, etc.....????

It's an epic battle of good vs.… more »
Competing nicely with the earlier Time After Time: The Best of Cyndi Lauper, Columbia/Legacy’s The Essential Cyndi Lauper features most of the ’80s icon’s big hits as well as lesser-known album tracks. Considering the inconsistent nature of Lauper’s albums, it is nice to find tracks like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “True Colors” packaged alongside “Sisters of Avalon” and “Who Let in the Rain.” Most Lauper fans will already own these songs, but for casual fans, The Essential Cyndi Lauper will do the trick. – Matt Collar
