Dani Siciliano, Slappers
2006 | Label: !K7 Records

American-born Londoner Dani Siciliano is best known as the voice behind most of longtime partner in life and music Matthew Herbert's best work, including 2001's Bodily Functions and 2006's Scale. But on 2004's Likes and this follow-up, Siciliano proves adroit behind the boards as well as behind the microphone. The highlights on Slappers are plentiful, including the spooky "Frozen," the glitchy (and tongue-in-cheek) "Be My Producer" and the galloping "Why Can't I Make You High," which along with Basement Jaxx's "Take Me Back to Your House" seems to point toward 2006's weirdest electronic-dance trend, the incorporation of country music.

Good girl

Her previous album was excellent. It took two years but there is the new one. Nice minimal sounds, very Matthew Herbert vibes. Her voice is precisely duplicated and explored almost as a minimal instrument. Be My Producer is 5 stars
