Oh, quit bitchin'

How can you possibly figure that eMusic is trying to make a buck by NOT selling music? eMusic provides what the label allows them to provide. It is not eMusic's choice. Bitch about the Artist or the label if you must, but independent musicians have the same mortgage (or rent) and bills that everyone does. This is fabulous source for indies to go head-to-head with mainstream artists and win! Grow up. As a side note, Mr Johnston is a freaking genius. Sacrifice your few downloads and learn something.

eMusic is a Business

fallingmercury

Of course eMusic is trying to make another buck, and I do not fault them for it. They are a business and the bottom line is what business is all about. Be glad you can get what you can from here people! I have found so many amazing records on this site for so much cheaper than I could in a record store or on iTunes. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives in my book.

more emusic bs

nothingreally

Isn't it great how emusic charges 12 credits for an album when it suites them but changes their policy when it doesn't. Another example of e-music trying to tell their customers their helping them out when really their just trying to make another buck.

An option.....

If Daniel's stuff is a little hard to swallow, try the tribute album. Beck does an incredible version of "True Love Will Find You In The End". In fact it may be the best thing Beck has ever done. Daniel's lyrics are brilliant. He may not have the best presentation but he is truly a great songwriter.

True music

marcusmayo

I have just recently discovered the heart wrenching, devastatingly beautiful music of Daniel Johnston. I think most people wouldn't give his stuff 10 seconds of play before deciding they never want to hear his music again. This is thanks in part to the overproduced, sterile, homogeneous, and outright terrible music that is put out by the record companies. Just look at the Billboard charts and what's on almost every pop music radio station across the country. The public isn't blameless though, they wouldn't feed us so much crap if we didn't buy it. But anyways, sorry for the rant, back to Daniel Johnston. I would recommend everyone giving his music a try. The sincerity in his music makes you look deep inside. My absolute favorite so far is "Peek A Boo"

Where's the last 4 tracks?

This is a wonderful album with a good selection of Johnston's best work. Daniel Johnston's songwriting and expressiveness is nothing short of inspiring and heartbreaking. Its disappointing that emusic doesn't offer the complete album (and offers no explanation as to why or when it will be available again). If it were complete I would add another star.

The Perfect Introduction...

Clatterhead

If you've just learned about Daniel Johnston via the recent documentary film "The Devil and Daniel Johnston," this is the best introduction to his amazing music. All (or at least most) of Daniel's greatest songs are represented here including "Walking The Cow," "Speeding Motorcycle," and "Devil Town." Once you get past the lo-fi recording and dive into the genius of Johnston's words and melodies, you open up a vast catalog of great songs found on other Johnston albums.
