Rocks. Definite Jesus Lizard influence here.

Most noise projects consist of members who started in the punk/metal/hardcore scene so you'd think the idea of fusing hardcore with punk had already happened at this point. For Daughters to come around and finally do it was a novelty waiting to happen. Unfortunately, the riffs are unengagingly repetitive and what often begins as memorable develops no further and so is overused by the end of the song. The album still has its moments (tracks 3 and 8 largely) but even these are somewhat lost to the lead singer whose voice takes away a lot of raw energy and is more monotone than the Silver Jews.
Fantastically hectic and complex, it's tangential to metal but with a vocal delivery that's a refreshing alternative to screamers and growlers. Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against the typical death metal vocal delivery, but very few do it well or distinctively. Daughters takes the last ten years of heavy, challenging music and adds their own gloss on it. Recommended!
