While waiting for David Rubato's next record, Institubes thought they could ask a handful of their friends from Belgium to Berlin and Brooklyn, from Ed Banger to Eskimo and Boys Noize to uncover the epic side of the original "Circuit". So here we have reworks from DJ Mehdi, Aeroplane, Siriusmo, and Steve Moore. DJ Mehdi offers us a hard-hitting, boom-bap remix that's all menacing stares and clenched fists, building upon the dystopian synth riff of the original. Piccadilly favourites Aeroplane come up with another of their sparkly electronic disco remixes that has 'pop' written all over it (in the best possible way). Over on the other side Siriusmo goes for a "Billie Jean" drumbeat + disco-funk strings + brass + slapped-bass combination that works a treat. Which leaves Steve Moore. he's one-half of US duo Zombi, and here he He turns "Circuit" into a huge, tense cinematic score fit for grandiose slo-mo demolition derbies, with arpeggios spinning out of control into eternity
