AMG review sucks, as does this comp.

Vogellied

This is not "the perfect primer for young punks in training and a satisfying shot of politically charged jet fuel for longtime fans"... DK has always been and will always be one of my favorite bands, one of the important peices of American music EVER, F&^# a "primer" go get the original albums and find out for yourself how important poltically fuel rock can be and then ask how it is that "punk" go sublimated by AVril Lavigne and the Smalls things band, and other arena cock rock.

Good songs, but I have all of these tracks on my existing DK albums. Yawn. DK used to mean something before the expendables got their grubby mitts on it. I feel sorry saying that because I really liked the way the expendables played on some of these albums.

Creative juices sapped, nothing to say?

Clefnote

Then release a greatest-hits disc. Notice how few classics are included from the post-Jello period? Oh yeah, that's right, there AREN'T any classics after Jello. Sounds like they tweaked the mix a bit, not for the better, either.

Unbeleivable

I can't beleive that this site would put this garbage of an album up for sale and I can't get any music by The Distillers on this site!

Dead Kennedys are truly dead... Long Live Jello

bl00k

After the members of the Dead Kennedys falling out with lead singer Jello Biafra they sued Jello for the rights to the songs he wrote and performed. Now the "DK's" are the legal holders of the copyrights they are able to put out compilation albums like this one. Appropriately titled and over priced this album has no scruples about bending you over all in the name of greed. Take the advice of the other user's comments and head over to Alternative Tentacles and purchase Dead Kennedys albums from Jello. If you buy this album then the terrorists win.

FEH!

Other three DKs: be advised that you'd have been ZILCH if it weren't for Jello. So cut this pathetic teabagging-the-cash-cow crap. You deserve nothing.

What a perfect title!

The-Crooked-One

I can't believe they are doing this! All of these songs are already available on other cd's. The sad part of this is that the title says it all. They are hoping to get more money from their fans for not doing anything, all while doing their best to screw Jello AGAIN. Why would any fan want to play a part in this? I LOVE the original DK recordings! I listen to them all the time, and always will. I will not be buying this though, and I encourage everyone else to do the same. If you want to hear DK, go buy what is left in Jello's name on the Alternative Tentacles site, or pick them up in used cd stores. Don't give these guys another penny. Shane - A real DK Fan

"Heard all this before!"

Jello had no say in this recording, you realize, I hope.

Great songs but...

bobbly

...if they're selling this as a $15 CD they really are milking it. 9 out of minutes are taken up by live versions of songs from their worst album that nobody wants to hear. But since this is emusic you can still use it to make a perfect DK greatest hits. Download all but those last 2 live songs and add Forward To Death, Drug Me, Chemical Warfare, Stealing Peoples Mail, I Kill Children (from Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables), Religious Vomit, Dog Bite, Moral Majority, We’ve Got A Bigger Problem Now, Govt. Flu, Well Paid Scientist, Buzzbomb, Forest Fire, Riot, Bleed For Me (from Plastic Surgery Diasters/In God We Trust Inc.), I Fought The Law, A Child and His Lawnmower, Life Sentence, Straight As (all from Give Me Convenience Or Give me Death), One Way Ticket To Pluto, Take This Job And Shove It (from Bedtime For Democracy). I bet that entire list will fit on one CD.

They Say All Music Guide

The very concept of a “greatest hits” collection from San Francisco punk legends the Dead Kennedys’ fits right in with the group’s penchant for establishment parody, but the irony is that Manifesto’s 12-track Milking the Sacred Cow is the perfect primer for young punks in training and a satisfying shot of politically charged jet fuel for longtime fans. Classic cuts like “California Uber Alles,” “Holiday in Cambodia,” and “Too Drunk to Fuck” were the gateway drug for a lot of people just finding their way into the scene, especially those who were looking for an American version of the Sex Pistols — Jello Biafra proved that he could match Johnny Rotten sneer for sneer — but live versions of “Soup Is Good Food” and “Jock-O-Rama,” as electrifying as they are, keep this collection just shy of perfection. That said, it still provides a satisfying crack in the jaw, even if it’s missing fan favorites like “Terminal Preppie,” “Trust Your Mechanic,” and “Chemical Warfare.” Honor students should pick up Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, Frankenchrist, and Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death, but those looking for a quick fix or a cheat will find no better teat to affix their snarl to than this. – James Christopher Monger
