She can PLAY

There are very few blueswomen vocalists and guitarists. Memphis Minnie, Rosa May Hemphill, and in recent yearsthere's been a number of new ones, one of the best being Deborah Coleman. Buy this because it is good and because the blues could benefit from being less of an old boys network.

Flawed Recording

ToasKokopelli

One can't deny the vocal ability of Coleman, nor the at times extremely delightful guitar playing, or the overall power of the band on "Stop The Game". "Greasy" is one of my favorite tracks of late. But other tracks suffer from average song writing, and over all the album suffers from poor production (sounds like it was record in a bathroom at points). Better engineering could have made this a modern day blues classic even with some weak songs scattered through out the set. For those than don't care about sonics and love good blues.

First rate stuff

FLBluesFan

Deborah Coleman delivers here with some straight ahead blues and rock. Her guitar playing is the reason to listen, but the songs here can stand on their own. Her blues chops hold up to anyone. Download this if you are a fan of Coco Montoya or guitar oriented blues.
