Hugo Wolf Choral Works

fpainestam

Most of my familiarity with the music of Hugo Wolf was from listening to recordings of performances of his lieder, as he wrote a lot of songs. I grew to admire those songs very much, and even performed a few of them. They are challenging, but worth the effort. I was also involved in a very rewarding performance of a couple of his short works for vocal chamber ensemble. This recording, was the first I had heard of truly choral material. I bought it out of curiosity, without major expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised. These smallish choral works are both accessible and enjoyable. I strongly recommend them.
