This EP is some of the earliest recorded material from the inimitable party rappers the Digital Underground. The rubbery bass lines, the 80s electro breaks, the whoopee cushion synths, the fake nose — it's all here, as are the gleeful, second-grade scatological lyrics: "From the butt cheeks, let the voodoo fall," we are instructed, disgustingly and confusingly, in "Greenlight." The Digital Underground would get weirder, more experimental, and slightly more distinctive later on, but if you have a weakness for the "Humpty Dance" — and if you don't, what the hell is wrong with you? — this is still essential. "Sittin' On the Hitz" interpolates Irving Berlin's "Putting On the Ritz" over a stoned, aired-out horn sample and a stuttering, dry drum hit; it's an appropriately blunted way into the EP.
