1995 | Label: Ninja Tune

Befitting this project's functionalist history (the duo Coldcut originally used the DJ Food name when creating break records for scratch DJs), A Recipe for Disaster is crammed with exceptionally funky sampled beats. It's a veritable playground of rhythm, with each track showcasing a different approach to sampling and rhythm manipulation. Tracks like "Brass Neck" mine late-’60s funk and let the choicest loops play with minimal editing, while "Fungle Junk" finely chops and processes its source rhythm to transform it into drum and bass.
