Wally fan but advise choosing sparingly

The production is indeed light and songs too long. I prefer when the beat is not dropping - like with the opener - which is unfortunately the best track. Smoking up Music and Righteous like a brother are standouts - though fast enough to leave downtempo arena - and although again way too long Bucksweet Swagger is very funky and almost single-worthy.

His first album as half of the duo credited as DJ’s Wally & Swingsett, Dog Leg Left ranges through the blunted drum’n'bass of “Smoking Up the Music” and scratchadelic soul of “Wiggin.” For the most part, though, it’s acceptable (if a bit bland) downtempo trip-hop, heavy on the vibes but a tad light on the production. – John Bush
