Seems I heard a lot of this stuff in college and none afterward. And this is a good thing. Each performance of this sort of music is about 15 minutes long. It has a frantic bit and a slow depressing bit. And recordings seem to be quite interchangable. You hear this kind of music once; and you're done. For life. There is a kind of boheme attitude which it is customary to assume while listening. Then ecstatic applause at the end. The practitcioners of this style do not seem to get laid at the regularity of muscians of other styles and I think this is an indication of quality. What this music has to do with Penderecki I could not say. It doesn't sound like him to me.
