Cool!
I'm really surprised I never heard of this guy. After doing some searches, he's the real deal. His versions are really cool and his voice is cool...gritty and mean. I recommend this album.

A rocking gem
eMusic lists Nix' style as rock/contemporary blues. That is exactly what this album is: good blues numbers interspersed with good rock numbers. What else would you expect from an all-star lineup which features Steve Cropper, Tony Joe White and John Mayall. Nix vocally handles both styles of music equally well. "Black Cat Moan" evokes some of the old-time players like Howlin' Wolf, only with a livelier beat. "Going Back to Iuka", "On the Road" and "Palace of the King" are also great tracks. For comic relief, check out "Plastic Flowers." This is one of the real gems here on eMusic.
