Doug Ashdown Collection
Doug Ashdown had the sweetest, silkiest, velvet voice of all the Australian folk singers of the 60s and 70s. Well known around the folk joints of Sydney and Melbourne, Ashdown’s voice had a smoothness and power that made him stand apart. He’s best know for the song “Leave Love Enough Alone”, released in America as “Winter in America”. It’s superb. However, the song writing could vary in quality. Below is a list of the albums then the songs, from those available on eMusic, that I think capture his best. | Age of Mouse • Georgetown • I Remembered Alice | Winter In America • They Always Seem To Look Like Marianne • Leave Love Enough Alone • Sally Broome • Tomorrow is The Last Time | Trees • Rowe Street • I Can Almost See Belfast From Here • Throw A Little Sun At The Rain | No Cheap Grace • No Cheap Grace • The Moon On Clancy's Wings | Love Lives • Love Lives, Love Grows
