Genuine Prog Rock Americana
This is Echolyn's emergence as the true successor to Kansas for Americana prog - a logical extension of the two previous Always Almost albums which were done without keyboard man Chris Buzby and quite different from the frantic eclecticism of "As the World" which led more into Chris' two albums with Finneus Gauge. The Americana sound would reach its peak in Echolyn's next album, "Mei" - their masterpiece which brilliantly combined Chris' talent for Aaron (not Stewart or Johnny) Copland-esque arrangements with Brett Kull's Grateful Dead inspired tunes. Alas, "Mei" will probably never make it to EMusic as it is a single 3/4 hour track.
