This is a great album that samples many different styles. A good amount of emphasis on heavy dub beats and breaks, but with some dubstep thrown in there. One quibble: the track emusic lists as Rasberry Dub is actually a longer version of Sludge off another Ed Solo release. Also, the track listed as Sometimes is actually Always There, which they repeat later. So if you download, you'll pay for two tracks you don't get.
Babylon Breaks & When I Was a Youth caught my ear. Heard one of them at 205 here in NYC being spun by my man DJ DRM. Nice to pick up the energy for a crowd that may be hesitant about dancing to straight up reggae. Could be nice transition tracks for DJs switching in or out of a reggae set.
Really good break-beat today is hard to come by (at least on Emusic), so it's nice to see Ed Solo pursuing the breaks side of things (to which I think he's pretty well suited). This album has a little bit of everything, upbeat and slow(er) tunes alike. If you're just interested in the one tune off this album that's going to stick in your head forever, it's "Sometimes" No. 8. Keep up the amazing work Ed!
