Post Teenage Depression...
Best known for their role as a mid to late 70's pub rock band with rockstar ambition that were amongst the best pre-punk UK acts. Unfortunately their prime studio material and singles like "Teenage Depression," "Quit This Town" and "Do Anything You Wanna Do" are not found here in original versions at Emusic... What we get here are some leftovers done circa 1979 as the band struggled to find firm footing as they were being dropped by Chris Blackwell's Island imprint after 3 LPs. These are tunes done likely as demos either before or after their "Thriller" LP circa 1979. Unlike Michael Jackson's Thriller of a few years later, their new wave attempt failed to find many fans. On this outtake release from that era there are some moments of raw, if dated late 70's rocking, but one can understand why these tracks were left by the wayside. An almost gothy version of the Small Faces' "I Got Mine" is among the weirdo standouts you may wish to grab on this release that's been out on CD since 1990.
