So I literally discovered Ellie today!! I heard her single "Lights" on the radio and as soon as I was home came to download her whole album! I have already listened to it about 3 times and am utterly in love with it! Such a great mix of emotions, beats, and Ellie's sultry voice in every song makes this a standout album! Get it NOW!! =D

I agree with with the first review. The first three songs are great. You owe it to yourself to at least give tracks 1-3 a full listen!

Amazing electropop album!

RO

I'm late to appreciate this album - I just discovered Ellie Gouding - but hopefully I can help eMusic subcribers discover her as well (I can't believe I'm the first person to review this album here...). This record is great. It's a pop album, but it's far from ordinary. Ellie is really talented and it comes through on all tracks on the album. The first 3 tracks are amazing. "The Writer" is also great. Ellie is part of a growing indie electropop revolution, comprised of company like Imogen Heap and Little Boots. If you dig this kind of music, download "Lights". You won't be disappointed.

They Say All Music Guide

It shouldn’t surprise any Ellie Goulding fan to know that as a songwriter, the 23-year-old British songstress has written for the likes of Gabriella Cilmi and Diana Vickers. That’s because Goulding’s talent doesn’t stretch far from other teen Brit-pop artists of 2010, who are more likely to pull back and dig deep on a record than indulge in the froth of Girls Aloud or Sugababes. However, Goulding’s first full-length album, Lights, seems to fall somewhere in between the two. Ultimately, Goulding’s album is something of relevance; it lacks the dramatic crash and bang of Florence and the Machine’s Lungs, but is certainly a more restrained, compelling listen than the debut records by Pixie Lott and Little Boots. Goulding’s quite the songwriter (she co-wrote every track), and records like “This Love” and “Under the Sheets” suggest that Goulding’s album doesn’t fall back on singles like Paloma Faith’s album Do You Want The Truth or Something Beautiful? This album is tender, sharp, and most importantly, musically relevant. Goulding is able to take the best parts of all of her contemporaries’ styles and create pleasantly surprising records. A casual listener may not adore Goulding’s album in its entirety, but no one will be able to find something he or she can’t adore from this young magical talent. – Matthew Chisling
