Old School Blues and then some.

Elmore plays the riffs and exploits their regional variations on a theme, eg Coming Home, I believe and Dust My Broom, as did the juke joint players of the day. The subtle variations are there to hear, but what I love about EJ is the added sense of melody that he brings to each of these Blues standards - the music still has that edge, but boy can he sing; and his voice marks him out and smooths his Blues. Excellent Blues and a good intro to the old stuff for those interested.

I love Elmore James, a great slide player and a great toe tapper, but don't you feel a number of his songs merge into one another, as well as tunes and riffs even lines get picked up and moved around.
