What a waste

The loss of this woman's beautiful ringing tone and impeccable sense of swing was a blow to the music. She is so much less buttoned-up than most of the post-bop male guitarists.

the best of a depressingly few Emily albums

This is my favourite album of Emily's. In particular, Snowfall is beautiful. What a great guitarist.

not too many female guitarists like this. I can't think of one.

Wes Would Be Proud

Jazzbro

Norah Jones was the toast of the music world a couple of years back. It's too bad Emily Remler died before guitar fans and jazz fans got the chance to really know her. She was truly trapped in the body of someone else as she liked to say. I feel lucky to have "discovered" her years ago while working at a public radio station. Thank god Concord has kept her output in release. I knew Wes Montgomery before his passing and Emily Remler would humbly disagree, but this release, along with her entire Concord catalog, would have made Wes proud. Emily, you remain a magnificent hidden treasure.

The late guitarist’s last CD to be released before her premature death is her finest effort. Emily Remler’s fluid technique brightens such seldom-heard numbers as Clifford Brown’s “Daahoud” and her simplified arrangement of Claude Thornhill’s lovely “Snowfall,” as well as more relaxed tunes like “Sweet Georgia Fame.” The polished rhythm section includes the masterful pianist Hank Jones, bassist Buster Williams, and drummer Marvin “Smitty” Smith. Highly recommended. – Ken Dryden
