One of my favorites
This is truly beautiful music by talented performers who complement each other very well. This is an album I listen to more often than any of my other early classical albums.

This re-release should make lovers of music in general and baroque music in particular extremely happy, as this is the gold – or if you want, the platinum – standard in the recording of Monteverdi’s vocal music. The young Kirkby and Evelyn Tubb, both in the prime of their career and musicality, directed by Anthony Rooley produce a spark of beauty so rarely heard in musical history with highlights from Monteverdi’s musical library for a sopran or duo of soprani - just listen for the opening of track 5 or 8 to feel that spark of magic. A masterpiece *****
