Master of German Folk & Rock
Those who know Eric Fish as the frontman of Subway to Sally know he's a heavy rocker who loves incorporating medieval instruments and harmonies into contemporary music. He specializes in bringing a strong, clear voice along with a sense of melody to music that resonates even with non-Deutsche ears. Here, on his 1st solo studio effort, he delves into more stripped down pieces with acoustic guitar, piano, and harmonica. Check out his great baritone phrasing on tracks 1, 4, 5, 8 especially. His brother, Gerit, contributes with others to some neat harmonies as well. I'm so glad Eric's starting to become more accessible on eMusic now. He truly deserves more attention outside Germany for helping to preserve and combine traditional German folk and more American-style folk-rock together.
