One of the most unerrated new age musicians of the last decade
2004 | Label: Spotted Peccary

You won't find Eric Wollo on many end caps in Borders or Barnes & Noble, but the Spotted Peccary composer is one of the most underrated new age musicians of the last decade. His work, particularly on Emotional Landscape, is deep and yearning, filled with color and feeling. This is music that stretches out and really expands without losing a sense of gravity, particularly on tracks like "Mountain Beach."

Silence

Reverie

The silence on the last track is intentional. It leads to a "secret" track on the CD. To remove the gap, use a program like mp3directcut (freeware) to cut the silent section out. It will re-save the MP3 without re-encoding, so there's no loss of quality. My track is now approx 16 minutes long.

Relaxing

ihman17

This is a collection of songs dealing with texture and rhythm. This album is a study in mood projection through repetitious yet ever evolving patterns. Wollo's work here is hypnotic.

Good, but...

p1trudeau

There is five minutes of complete silence on last track, between minute 6 and 11. Is it a problem with the recording?

Rather cheezy

This album, far from bad or anything, should be listed under New Age instead.

A Great Find

GrooveSeeker

Wow, delighted to have found this. Beautiful, relaxing soundscapes, magical ambience and atmosphere. A lot of people try to do this kind of music and fall flat but Erik Wollo is obviously a master. I can't wait to check out his other stuff as I ask myself how come I've never heard of him before this ? A great emusic discovery for me

there is something in each song that makes me and my clients feel very soothed w/out being boring even the repetition is nice whereas in most cases its boring.

Wow, I've been into new age for over 10 years now and this is the first Eric Wollo album I've heard and I was just blown away by the musicianship of this wonderful artist. This album will take you through a wide range of emotion.Beatufully composed. I'm now a huge fan.

New Age

By Robert Phoenix, eMusic Contributor

New age music, a genre roughly defined by its spiritual resonance and relaxing qualities, has roots that stretch back into the early 20th century, as impressionist composers like Satie, Faure and Debussy began to craft music that had magical qualities and a lyrical component that lead the listener more into silence rather than into sound. Debussy's "Preludes" and Satie's classic "Gymnopédies" are just two examples of early new age music. The sound of the genre took… more »
