This is a magnificent recording, whatever the format. I grew up with it on an LP (long lost), and to find it again with an additional track was heartening. Although it is ironic to find the old socialist MacColl singing movingly about royalty, that dies not detract from the superb sense of loss that he projects through the words of these varied and beautiful songs. And his collaboration with Peggy Seeger is, as always, flawless.
