Mad Scientist Math Rock
Think Shellac meets Burning Airlines meet Kerosene 454. This record is tightly focused and clean as a whistle, poly-rhythmic and completely left field. FAVES: "Cut Self Not", "Sea Song."

The first time I saw these guys, they were opening for Fugazi at a show in Ybor City. And for a moment, I actually thought that they were going to outshine Fugazi. Of course, Fugazi did not disappoint, but I remained deeply impressed by Faraquet's instrumentation and smart arrangements that succeeded in making alternating time signatures danceable and blended the meditative with the ecstatic. Unlike any other band I know, and much better than those who closely approximate them.
I found this quite serendipitously whilst sifting through some vinyl at a random record shop when i was a freshman in high-school. i had no idea who they were... when i got home i put it on and was glued in front of the record player for 40min. so glad i re-stumbled across this smashing record. recommended
This is probably my favorite album that no one else seems to know about. I discovered it back in college during the glory days of Napster. Never thinking I would actually find the CD, I was shocked to find it at Amoeba Records in Berkeley, CA (that store has everything). It's really too bad they didn't release more albums.
It took a while, but this album has really grown on me. At first I wasn't crazy about them, but now I find myself playing their songs over and over. 'Cut Self Not' is my personal favorite, 'Carefully Planned' is also near the top for me. Great album, worth a listen.
Simply put, I theres no other word I can think of for this album. I discovered Faraquet through Jeph Jaques reccomended listening list on www.questionablecontent.net, and frankly, I am indebted to Mr. Jaques. It's hard to believe this album is six years old now. It doesn't sound dated in the slightest. Every track is a winner, but the title track is by far my favorite. Well worth the download time.
hard to believe this was released back in 2000. it sounds as good today as it did the day it was pressed. these guys were from time to time labeled as a math-rock band, but their music has an emotional core far beyond the math-rock norm.
