WOW!!!!

e-strings

holy crapamoly!!! this is great great. I love these guys and and I wish I knew what the hell happened to them. They were overshadowed by the equally great and very different Q and not U, who released a their debut album on Dischord at the same time as the Faraquet full length. These guys are just amazingly tight though. They nailed down one of the most fluid and rhythmically complex post-rock sounds of any band and yet, where Don Caballero went musically Ape just for "art's" sake, Faraquet wield their formidable talents in a modest and thoroughly enjoyable manner. Just try not tapping your feet, I dddare you. The vocals and lyrics are entirely superfluous though they don't get in the way.

Faraquet's Shining Promise

Centeran

Fluid, frenetic guitar lines tumble and eddy over a tremendously tight rhythm section. The intricate, jerky arrangements and inventive fusion of post-hardcore and prog-rock make up for the sometimes sterile vocals. This 7”, coupled with the lamentably absent split with Akarso (404 Records) reveal a much darker and more dynamic Faraquet than their Dischord full-length.

wow. wow. wow. i can't believe this is on emusic. i never figured that any more dc labels would make it on here, now i'm getting my hopes up that dischord's catalogue will appear. until then, grab this. grab it now! faraquet was an excellent band from DC, featuring members of Smart Went Crazy. angular but jazzy math-rock with great vocals and several beats you can dance to. I've got the original 7" at home, but I'll be dl-ing this as well just because I can.
