Fatesryche
OK, this is where they applied their study of Queensryche (Mindcrime & Empire) and tried to write some coherent songs, with a bit of space, a touch of melody. Ray Alder even manages something approaching emotion in his singing at times. Some saw it as an attempt at a more commercial sound (pffft, it's 1991, like that's gonna work) but I think they were trying to get back to writing songs. And I'd say it was pretty successful. Apart from that, the quality of Mark Zonder's drum work is phenomenal!
