Swedish sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg — aka First Aid Kit — write songs beyond their teenage years. The headline on their MySpace page reads, "We aim for the hearts, not the charts!" and it's that sweet earnestness, sung in reedy two-part harmonies, that drives their debut LP The Big Black And The Blue. The record's 11 folk tracks are filled with waltzes in 3/4 and 6/8, often about love, spirituality and living life to the fullest. In highlight track "Hard Believer," they sing about not needing religion to feel free ("I just live because I love to, and that's enough, you see/ So don't come preach about morality, that's just human sense to me); in "I Met Up With The King," they sing about judging a person's value and believability by their body (an aging king and a young girl in love). With breathtaking vocals and intricate backgrounds that include acoustic guitar, organ, piano, flute and light percussion to make their case, these sisters' sincerity will go a long way.
