The wonder of eMusic! I was looking for a version of the old Pretenders hit, "Brass in Pocket." Not only did I find it here, but I found an awesome Dutch jazz singer. I downloaded and listened to Fleurine's stunning version of "Brass in Pocket" and after that I had to have the whole album. This is a great collection; don't miss it.
Here is a great new singer and recording that I found only because I was in sampling mode yesterday. If you like Bebel Gilberto, Patricia Barber and/or Susannah McCorkle I think you might enjoy Fire. The song selection is quite interesting as she has chosen to avoid the jazz standard in favour of her jazz takes on Springsteen, Simons, Frampton and Jobim.
