Stephan Robbers’ Florence material, while similar to his releases as Terrace, tend toward the more experimental side, combining a talent for deep, melodic arrangements with electro, jazz, and, most recently, drum’n'bass influences, off-kilter beats, and lush, sometimes dark atmospherics. Occurences, Robbers’ second long-form Florence release, is as concise and accomplished a representation of that as the previous Dominions. While occasionally suffering under the weight of its own eclecticism, sacrificing compositional depth for stylistic breadth, much of Occurences presents a balanced blend of intricate, developed themes and varied, interesting rhythms, moving through beatless ambient, downtempo electro, and lush, melodic jungle without sounding too compiled or affected. – Sean Cooper
