The upright bass player and composer Florent Ghys's impressionist take on jazz sounds as good burbling away in the background as it does when you're alone with it. Spare, stark, melodic, and full of odd angles, it feels like jazz that has been frozen into place and then broken into brittle shards.
This FREE DOWNLOAD is described as Genre: Classical. This Genre has also been used to define other recent tracks. I am a particular fan of CLASSICAL MUSIC and by no stretch of the imagaination is this a correct description. The use of 'baroque' in the blurb is mis-leading. May I suggest you change the Genre to JAZZ?
Not jazz, not classical music. Not the usual European ECM-ish chamber jazz combo. This guy's just purely expressing. And that, to me, is highly worth my while as a listener.
